Armeria Leucocephala
Hailing from the rugged, sun-drenched mountains of Corsica, Armeria leucocephala, or the Corsican Thrift, is a resilient little "white-headed" gem. Often nicknamed "Sea Pinks" (though this specific variety is snowy white), these plants are the ultimate survivors of rocky crevices and high-altitude winds. They form tight, moss-like mounds that look like miniature green cushions tucked into stone walls or gravel paths.
The name "Thrift" comes from the plantβs ability to "thrive" in conditions where almost nothing else can survive. In its native Corsican habitat, it is often found clinging to granite rocks at altitudes of over 6,000 feet, enduring snow in the winter and scorching sun in the summer.

Armeria Leucocephala grows best in a well-draining soil that is light and sandy. The soil pH should be slightly acidic to neutral in the range of 6.0-7.0. The plant prefers soil that is low in organic matter and does not tolerate heavy clay soils. A mixture of sand, perlite, and peat moss is recommended for planting Armeria Leucocephala. It is important to ensure that the soil is well-drained, as the plant does not tolerate wet feet. Additionally, the plant should not be over-fertilized, as excessive nutrients can lead to poor growth and reduced flowering. Overall, a soil mix that allows for good drainage, is lightly textured, and has a slightly acidic to neutral pH is ideal for growing Armeria Leucocephala.
