Begonia × Ricinifolia
Known affectionately as the Castor Bean Begonia, this stunning hybrid is the "grand dame" of the begonia world. Created in the mid-19th century, it was one of the first begonias to take the Victorian gardening world by storm. With its massive, star-shaped leaves and prehistoric silhouette, it looks more like a creature from a tropical jungle than a simple windowsill plant.
This hybrid is incredibly historic! It was first bred in 1847 by crossing two Mexican species (B. heracleifolia and B. peponifolia), making it one of the oldest cultivated begonia hybrids still widely grown by enthusiasts today.

These plant needs regular fertilizing during growing seasons. Fertilizing your plants in dormant state during the winter, might result in scorching or browning of the leaf tips. If mature plants display signs of nutrient insufficiency, fertilizer administration is necessary to restore the plant to its previous state.
