It belongs to a family famous for its "nerved" leaves and jewel-toned blossoms that look like they belong in a high-end botanical garden. In its native lands, it is often seen bordering marshy areas, painting the landscape with splashes of vivid magenta and deep green.

• 🍃 Nerved Leaves: The leaves feature 3 to 5 striking parallel veins running longitudinally from the base to the tip, a classic "signature" of the Melastome family.
