Pouzolzia Zeylanica
Often referred to as the Graceful Pouzolzia or "Zeylan's Bush," this unassuming member of the Nettle family is a humble wanderer found across tropical Asia and Africa. While many modern gardeners might mistake it for a common weed, it has been cherished for centuries in traditional herbalism for its cooling properties. It thrives in the "in-between" spaces—damp cracks in walls, the edges of rice paddies, and the shaded corners of moist gardens.
In various parts of Southeast Asia, this plant is nicknamed the "Crush Herb" because the leaves are traditionally pounded into a paste and used as a poultice to soothe skin inflammations and minor sores!
To grow a Pouzolzia Zeylanica plant, also known as the creeping nettle or false nettle, follow these steps:

To fertilize your plant, use a balanced, all-purpose fertilizer and apply it every 2-3 months during the growing season. Dilute the fertilizer according to the package instructions and water the plant well before and after application. Avoid over-fertilizing as it can damage the plant.
Pouzolzia Zeylanica plant requires soil that is well-draining and rich in nutrients. The soil should have a pH level of between 5.5 and 7.5. It is recommended to use a mixture of soil, compost, and sand in equal parts to create a well-balanced soil mixture. The plant prefers moist soil, so it is important to ensure that the mixture is able to retain moisture without becoming waterlogged. Additionally, it is beneficial to provide the plant with organic fertilizers, such as bone meal or fish emulsion, to promote healthy growth. Overall, Pouzolzia Zeylanica plant thrives in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil that is kept consistently moist and supplied with organic fertilizers.
To propagate this plant, you can take stem cuttings of about 6 inches in length. Make sure each cutting has at least 2-3 nodes on it. Remove the lower leaves and dip the cut end of the stem in rooting hormone. Plant the cutting in a well-draining soil mix and keep it moist but not waterlogged. Place the pot in a bright but indirect light location. You can cover the cutting with a plastic bag or clear plastic container to create a mini greenhouse environment to maintain humidity. After a month or so, you should see signs of roots developing. Once the plant has established a good root system, you can transplant it to a larger pot or garden bed.
